Welcome to my personal blog. My name is Kara Hizon.
I created this blog last February 2010 so that I have something to look back to ten years from now when I am a totally unrecognizable person. I don’t know what the future holds, I have no fixed plans — I only have possibilities and desired intentions. :)
Thank you for being here and for genuinely wanting to know more about me. I will use this blog to share my thoughts and the world I am responsibly creating for myself.
Regarding what I do and what I am up to: I am a database and software engineer; I finished BS Management Information Systems minoring in Japanese Studies and a MS degree in Computer Science from Ateneo de Manila University. Maybe in the future I will share with you my published works when I have everything compiled!
Aside from my day job, I have my own little businesses and projects going on (Veggie Wahine, Lomo Loco Films & Cameras & Instax Manila).
Two of my passions and self-expression in life are photography and surfing — which is why I’m always torn between paddling out or shooting away with my favorite camera whenever I’m at the beach: Happiness is experiencing my feet digging in the sand, the sun’s warm on my skin and the water cool and refreshing. As a personal preference, I stick to vintage cameras and expired films. I practice analogue photography because I thoroughly enjoy the challenge and the anticipation of having the rolls developed first before seeing the resulting images. My philosophy is that time is better spent waiting and capturing the perfect moment more than reviewing a dozen shots on the LCD display. XD
